The first step to seeing if aplan is for you is to take our free online assessment which will evaluate whether you might be eligible for treatment. Once that's done, we'll send your info to our prescribers, who will make a final decision as to whether you are suitable for treatment. We cannot guarantee the availability of any specific medication or dosage as the ultimate prescribing decision is up to the prescriber evaluating your medical history.
There are some basic eligibility criteria for semaglutide or tirzepatide treatment, including a suitable BMI range and a number of exclusion criteria (conditions or medications that would make it unsafe to be treated with Wegovy or Mounjaro). Each provider has clinical discretion over which patients they are comfortable initiating on treatment, so this may vary by provider. For example, online providers may be less comfortable starting a more complex patient on Wegovy, whereas a clinician seeing a patient face-to-face may be happy to prescribe and monitor their progress.
At present, all new patients are required to start on the lowest dose of medication (0.25mg Wegovy or 2.5mg Mounjaro), and will be offered the option to escalate dosage in subsequent months. This reflects the typical Wegovy titration schedule used in research trials and recommended by the medication manufacturers. This is done to reduce the risk of side effects and allow your body to get accustomed to the medication. If you are currently purchasing from another provider and would like to switch onto a higher dose with Habitual, please reach out to hello@tryhabitual.com before purchasing your plan.
Ozempic is licensed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, however it became popular for off-label use for weight loss in patients without a diabetes diagnosis. At present in the UK it is not recommended to use Ozempic off-label, as patients with type 2 diabetes were struggling to access medication due to widespread off-label usage. Fortunately, Wegovy is now available in the UK: Wegovy contains the same active compound (semaglutide) as Ozempic, and is licensed for weight loss rather than type 2 diabetes. Wegovy and Ozempic pens are virtually the same and produced by the same manufacturer, so whilst it isn't possible to get Ozempic without a type 2 diabetes diagnosis, Wegovy is just as good an alternative—plus, Wegovy is also available in higher strengths, which tend to lead to even better weight loss outcomes.
The first three strengths of Wegovy (0.25mg, 0.5mg, and 1mg) are all priced at £229. The fourth strength (1.7mg) is priced at £269, and the fifth (2.4mg) at £299. Mounjaro is priced at £229 for the two lowest strengths, £249 for the next two strengths, and £269 for the two highest strengths. Each month, you will be asked to complete a medical assessment so that our prescribers can ensure you're safe to continue on treatment. In the assessment you will also be asked if you'd like to request a dosage increase. This will be accompanied by pricing information for the higher doses, so you'll be able to choose once you see how you get on with the lower strengths. To reduce your monthly price, you can use the Habitual app to earn points and redeem them for rewards such as a discount on your next month.
Studies have shown that patients on the highest dose of Wegovy (semaglutide 2.4mg) can lose around 15% of their body weight after 68 weeks, and patients on the highest dose of Mounjaro can lose an average of 21% of their body weight in a similar time period. That said, every patient is different, so it's possible to lose significantly more or less weight, which is partially dependent on genetics, hormones, lifestyle behaviours such as sleep, exercise, and diet, and much more. At Habitual, we encourage you to adopt a holistic view of your weight and health journey, with the ultimate goal of reaching your target weight whilst also achieving better health outcomes—from physical to mental health.
All of our prescribers are based in our GPhC-registered pharmacy in the UK, and they are GPhC registered medical practitioners. All medications are dispensed from this same pharmacy. All patients must first complete a full consultation form (which you can do here) before given the option to sign up for a plan. If you are eligible and choose to subscribe, all of your consultation information will be sent to one of our prescribers so that they can evaluate your suitability for a medicated weight loss plan.
There are some known interactions between weight loss medications and other drugs, which is why our free assessment will ask you to confirm all medications you're currently on. If you're ineligible due to taking certain medications, we'll let you know straight away—our prescribers will also check through your entire online consultation to ensure there are no contraindications before writing your prescription.
